10 man raiding

Knights of the Runes currently uses the Bill and Ted rule for 5 and 10 man instances. In other words, "Be excellent to each other". We generally give loot to the people that need it the most and in case of multiple people needing an item straight roll. Members are given priority over recruits.

25 man raiding

For 25 man content we use a modified version of the Ni_Karma system.

Overview

  • Karma is the currency used to buy items, similar to DKP.
  • You get Karma for killing bosses, signing up for a raid, and whenever the loot officer for the night damn well feels like giving it out.
  • You can view current Karma by whispering the night's loot officer "km show".
  • When an item drops you would like to have, you must whisper the loot officer "bonus", "nobonus" or "offset". The three commands must be whispered exactly as they are typed here (all lowercase, one word, no extra characters or spaces anywhere).
  • Whispering "bonus", "nobonus" or "offset" puts your name on the loot officer's roll list.
  • If you whisper "bonus" the Karma you have will be added to your roll. You typically whisper "bonus" when an item is a considerable upgrade for your main spec.
  • If you whisper "nobonus" your Karma will not be added to your roll. You typically whisper "nobonus" when an item is a sidegrade for your main spec. If you are the only person in the raid who can benefit from an item, it may be advisable to whisper "nobonus" in order to save Karma (i.e. the only main-spec Holy Paladin rolling on plate spell power gear).
  • If you whisper "offset" your Karma will not be added to your roll and preference will be given to those that whispered "bonus" and "nobonus". You whisper "offset" when you want the item for an alternate spec.
  • You may not whisper "bonus" or "nobonus" for an item that is for your offspec, unless previously discussed with and approved by the officers. Under normal circumstances, you may only whisper "offset" for these items.
  • If you whisper "bonus" and win the roll, half of your current Karma will be deducted.
  • If there is a greater than 50 Karma difference between the person using the most Karma and you, your roll will be removed from the roll list. This is referred to as the"50 Karma rule". This is to protect people who have accumulated large amounts of Karma from losing an item to someone who just got a lucky roll.
  • Recruits and friend/family ranks are allowed to roll on all items. However, if a full member needs the item the member will be given priority. If you are a member rolling "offset" against a recruit who needs it for their main spec, please remember the "Bill and Ted Rule". A winning Karma roll for a recruit can be overridden at the discretion of the raid officers.

Example scenario 1

We kill Deathbringer Saurfang, and he drops [Deathbringer's Will]. Tom, Dick, and Harry are melee DPS who drool over the trinket IRL. The item is linked in a raid warning saying "Whisper for [Deathbringer's Will]"

Tom has 200 Karma, and whispers "nobonus"
Dick has 145 Karma and whispers "bonus"
Harry has 100 Karma and whispers "bonus"

Tom rolls a 100
Dick rolls a 70
Harry rolls a 100

Who wins the item?

Answer: Dick!!
Since Tom whispered "nobonus", he does not get to add Karma to his roll. His score is 100. Had Tom chosen to whisper "bonus", he would have automatically won because of the 50 Karma rule. Dick whispered "bonus", so his Karma is added to his roll. 70 roll + 145 Karma = 215. Harry also whispered "bonus", and had an awesome roll of 100! But 100 roll + 100 Karma = 200. Poor guy. Since Dick won and he whispered "bonus", half of his Karma is deducted. He now has 72.5 Karma.

Example scenario 2

We kill Deathbringer Saurfang, and he drops [Blade-Scored Carapace]. Tom and Harry are Fury Warriors, and the chespiece is an upgrade for each of them, but not a huge one. Dick is a Holy Paladin who would love it for his Ret offspec. The item is linked in a raid warning saying "Whisper for [Blade-Scored Carapace]".

Tom has 200 Karma, and whispers "nobonus"
Dick has 145 Karma and whispers "offset"
Harry has 100 Karma and whispers "nobonus"

Tom rolls a 1
Dick rolls a 100
Harry rolls a 5

Who wins the item?

Answer: Harry!!
Dick's roll was much higher than both Tom's and Harry's, but since he rolled "offset" he is at the bottom of the priority list. Tom and Harry both whispered "nobonus", so from this point it is essentially a straight roll between them. Remember that Tom and Harry both had the option to whisper "bonus" since it was a main-spec item for both of them. Dick's only option was "offset" since it was for an alternate spec.

Researching loot drops

YOU are responsible for researching loot that drops off of any boss or trash we could potentially down on a given night. YOU must determine BEFOREHAND if an item is an upgrade. We can't spend all day waiting on you to decide. There are a few addons out there like "AtlasLoot Enhanced" that allow you to make wish lists so you can always keep track of what you need.
