ROGUES, READ THIS NOW!!!

I have replaced "Kaz's Raiding Rogue Guide" with the following link because, quite frankly, it does a better job explaining what I was trying to, and it answers all those basic rogue DPS questions very well. READ IT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM! Elitist Jerks "Roguecraft 101"

Other Rogue Resources

  • Elitist Jerks "Roguecraft 101"
READ THIS NOW!!! If you only look at one of these links, make it this one. It answers, definitively, almost all questions about spec, weapons, gear, gems, stats, etc.
  • Shadowpanther.net
Zodar's definitive rogue armor/weapon/enchant/gem reference. Of particular interest to the combat rogues are the Max DPS and Max PvE armor charts. Much more useful and relevant than the "Find Upgrade" feature of the armory. All of the charts on this site are also available as Excel spreadsheets so that you can rank your gear with particular gems or enchants.

Updated frequently, be sure to download the most recent. Now has the ability to import from Armory.

Rogue Macros

These are many of the macros I regularly use. For more rogue macros, visit:

Tip: I use the adaptive "?" icon for many macros and place the "#show <spell/item/slot>" at the beginning to explicitly define which icon I want displayed to avoid any confusion about what the main function of the action is. However, the "#show <spell/item/slot>" is optional, and you can either omit the line and select a specific icon, or let the macro determine the icon based on the first item/spell it finds in the macro.

Stealth

Allows you to mash the stealth button without de-stealthing yourself.

/cast [nostealth] Stealth

Stealth (not in combat):Vanish (in combat)

Allows you to mash for stealth. If you are not stealthed and not in combat then it should stealth you. If you are in combat then it should Vanish you.

/cast [combat] Vanish; [nostealth] Stealth

Sinister Strike/Riposte

There are several methods for accomplishing this, however, this is the method I have found works the best.

/castrandom Sinister Strike:Riposte

Alternatively, you can add multiples of any spell to a castrandom sequence to raise its probability. For instance, I use the following sequence sometimes for boss fights where I know I may be in danger of pulling aggro. It gives a 50% chance of SS on button press, and a 25% chance for both Riposte and Feint. If whichever spell is selected is on CD or not available, the sequence just resets, so these macros are for fast spamming applications.

/castrandom Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Riposte, Feint

Trinkets + ...

You can add the following first two lines to whatever macro or spell you like to burn trinket cooldowns indiscriminately whenever they are available. My rationalle here is, even though trinket cooldown use is not perhaps timed the best with this method, your trinket cooldowns are never forgotten and never go wasted (this, of course, only applies to trinkets with combat-related cooldowns such as AP, armor penetration, and haste).

/use 13
/use 14
/castrandom Sinister Strike, Riposte

Apply Poisons

With this macro, you can left-click to poison your main hand, or right-click to poison your offhand. I make one of these for each poison. This macro isn't necessary if you use Autobar or another add on to apply poisons, but I still use it when I want to go light on the add ons.

#show Instant Poison
/use Instant Poison
/use [button:2] 17; 16

Pick Pocket + (Garrote/Ambush/Cheap Shot/Sap)

If you are stealthed and use this macro it will Pick Pocket the targeted mob, then cast whichever stealth opener you define. I use a respective version of this macro for each stealth opener. Autoloot must be enabled in your Interface options for this macro to work.

#show Cheap Shot
/cast Pick Pocket
/cast Cheap Shot

Throw:Shoot

This macro will throw a throwing weapon or shoot your bow/gun/crossbow depending on which you have equipped. This one works for everyone, not just rogues.

/cast [equipped:Thrown] Throw; Shoot

Deadly Throw:Throw:Shoot

Use deadly throw if you have a thrown weapon equipped and combo points on the target, otherwise just shoot/throw. This one is for rogues only, and the variation I use.

/cast Deadly Throw
/cast [equipped:Thrown] Throw; Shoot

Equip Thrown Weapon > Deadly Throw

Equip your throwing weapon & cast Deadly Throw (requires two button presses, about a 1 second delay due to global cooldown). Handy if you want to keep a bow/gun/crossbow equipped due to better stats.

/equipslot [noequipped:Thrown] 18 <Thrown Weapon Name>
/cast [equipped:Thrown] Deadly Throw
